Welcome to the Why Urology podcast with Dr. Todd Brandt.

This podcast is my personal attempt to teach you about your genito-urinary tract, what can go wrong, and how your urologist may just become your superhero.

The name of the podcast comes from my ongoing need to answer the question that I get so often from patients, friends, and family, “Why Urology? Why did you choose to become a urologist?”

In this episode, I am talking about the undescended or cryptorchid testicle.

The undescended testicle is a testicle that stops along its normal path of embryologic descent from the abdomen and does not descended in to the scrotum. The cryptorchid testicle is one that not only has not descended into the scrotum but migrates to and lies in an alternate position, seen primarily in 5 sites: perineal, femoral canal, superficial inguinal ring, suprapubic, and opposite scrotum.
